A Navy chief petty officer was found stabbed to death in his Pacific Beach home early Sunday and police were holding his wife as a suspect in the slaying.
Charles Frey, 44, was found dead in his bedroom at 4 a.m. by police responding to a call from his wife, San Diego Police spokesman Sgt. Jim Wallace said. Frey was assigned to the destroyer Fletcher, which makes its home port in Long Beach.
The coroner’s office said Frey died from multiple stab wounds to the upper torso. The victim’s wife, Dolores Frey, 41, was arrested later Sunday at the couple’s home on Culver Way and was being held at the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility in Santee, Wallace said.
