WBA welterweight champion Mark Breland will defend his crown against Marlon Starling next month in Columbia, S.C. The bout will be the state’s first title fight. It is scheduled for Aug. 22, and ABC will televise it.
Breland, 24, won a gold medal in the 1984 Olympics and earned the WBA title earlier this year when he beat Harold Volbrecht of South Africa.
