“The Doors: Live at the Hollywood Bowl.” MCA. $24.95. Over the years, the things that were so daring about the Doors have started seeming a little pretentious, even preposterous at times. What’s missing from the memory is the jolt of Jim Morrison’s charismatic presence, and this 65-minute document of the foursome’s biggest hometown gig (July 5, 1968) delivers that item with unmistakable impact. There are a few too many long shots in this straightforward coverage--after all, the meat of the matter is the close-in view of the Lizard King at work and play. He looks and sounds great, emanating dark, erotic menace, pouty, pinup allure and surprising humor: Only a rock star of true magnitude and self-perspective would puncture one of his most melodramatic moments with a belch, as Jimbo does here. *** 1/2
