A 25-year-old San Diego woman was killed Sunday when she lost control of her car while trying to exit from Interstate 805 to Interstate 8, officials reported.

Katherynn Jennings Spencer was going north on I-805 and tried to go west onto I-8 when she was ejected from her car as it ran off the freeway ramp and turned over at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Deputy Coroner Cal Vine.

Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 1-year-old daughter, Chelsea Spencer, was released after treatment at Children’s Hospital for minor injuries.

A passenger Kimberly Pierson, 28, of San Diego, was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital, according to California Highway Department spokesman Lloyd Needham. Pierson was reported to be in moderate condition.

Spencer was attempting to cross over two lanes at 65 miles per hour to make the I-8 exit, Needham said.
