A 27-year-old San Diego woman was killed when her car rammed into a van stopped at a red light on Aero Drive Monday morning, officials reported.

The woman’s 6-year-old son, who was a passenger in the car, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Children’s Hospital for observation. He was reported in good condition Monday afternoon.

The driver of the van, Jose Briseno, was not injured.

The woman’s name was withheld pending notification of her family, according to Deputy Coroner Penne Hammerstead.

Hammerstead said the woman was driving west on Aero Drive at 9:42 a.m. when she drove into the back of Briseno’s van. The force of the collision pushed the van, with the car jammed under it, through the intersection, Hammerstead reported.

The child was restrained with a seat belt, officials said. The woman was reported dead at UC San Diego Medical Center.
