Five days before the Bolshoi Ballet opens a 22-performance engagement at the Music Center, more than one-third of the tickets remain on sale.
“Since Aug. 2, we have been averaging a brisk $70,000 a day, and expect every performance to be sold out,” according to Judi Davidson, a spokeswoman for the company here.
With prices for the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion engagement scaled from $20 to $65, ticket revenues have thus far totaled about $2.5 million out of a total of $3.5 million, Davidson noted, adding that sales should reach $3 million by the Tuesday opening.
As of Friday, only the Aug. 15 evening highlights program had sold out. Performances offering the best seating are the Aug. 25 “Raymonda” and the Aug. 26 highlights matinee, according to Davidson.
Earlier stops on the Bolshoi tour--in New York, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco--sold out in advance of opening.
