Radon Is Substantial Health Risk, AMA Says

ATLANTA — The American Medical Assn. has told its 250,000 member doctors that they should consider radon, a radioactive gas found in as many as 12 million American homes, a substantial health risk.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reported last week that one in five homes surveyed in several states had unacceptably high radon levels. Radon sometimes seeps into homes after it is produced from the decay of natural elements in soil and underlying rocks.
