Vincent Persichetti; Composer at Juilliard

PHILADELPHIA — Vincent Persichetti, head of the composition department at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, died Thursday night at his home after what was reported as a brief illness. He was 72.
Persichetti was the author of more than 150 works, including nine symphonies and numerous works for chorus, bands and solo instruments.
