A 73-year-old Glendale woman found dead in her home this month was the victim of a savage beating, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office has confirmed.
Helen Carolyn Kennedy, a resident of Glendale since 1919, died Aug. 9 from internal hemorrhaging and a heart attack after a beating she suffered earlier that day, the coroner said.
Homicide detectives are investigating but have so far turned up no suspects.
Glendale police officers discovered Kennedy’s body at 6 p.m. the day of her death, after she did not show up for an appointment with a friend, police reported.
She had been dead several hours, the medical examination showed.
Police officials said Friday that they believe she was killed by an intruder. However, they released no details about the condition of her home or whether anything was stolen.
