Kemp Buys TV Time to Support Bork

WASHINGTON — Republican presidential contender Jack Kemp has purchased television time beginning Monday night for an advertisement supporting Supreme Court nominee Robert H. Bork as a man who would “uphold traditional conservative values.”
“The liberals in the United States Senate have attacked and smeared a man of decency,” the New York congressman says in the 30-second advertisement, which an aide said would run for four days on Cable News Network.
“It’s not too late to help Judge Bork be confirmed to the United States Supreme Court,” Kemp concluded.
Kemp’s commercial marks the first time any candidate has aired a national advertisement in the 1988 campaign. He makes no mention of his own candidacy in the ad.
