Local News in Brief : Move to Ban Sex Journals
- Share via
An ordinance preventing the display of sexually explicit publications in sidewalk newspaper racks and vending machines was introduced by the Manhattan Beach City Council Tuesday.
The ordinance, which follows state-mandated guidelines for such laws, would make it a misdemeanor to display sexually explicit materials in public areas where minors may be present. Blinder racks, which cover the lower two-thirds of the publication, would be exempt.
If adopted by the council at its Dec. 1 meeting, the new law would take effect in January.
