Local News in Brief : Schabarum to Head Panel
- Share via
County Supervisor Pete Schabarum will take over the politically coveted chairmanship of the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission next month from Mayor Tom Bradley.
Schabarum was chosen by the commission Wednesday after Supervisor Kenneth Hahn, who had been scheduled to take the job, declined because his activities have been limited by a stroke.
Schabarum, a conservative and leading critic of the Southern California Rapid Transit District, has said he will pursue several controversial initiatives. Among those is pushing RTD management to make major changes in work agreements with transit unions.
