San Dimas : Mayor Bows Out of Race
Mayor Don Haefer has announced that he will not run for reelection in April because of business responsibilities.
Haefer, 69, has served on the City Council for eight years and has been mayor for the last four. The mayor, who owns Ranchers Oil Co., serves for a two-year term. Haefer ran unopposed in 1984 and 1986.
Councilman Terry Dipple will seek the seat and Councilman Sandy McHenry said that he may run.
Dipple, 34, has been a member of the council for 12 years. His term expires in April, and he could not seek council reelection if he runs for mayor.
McHenry, 39, is in the middle of his first four-year term. If he ran for mayor and lost, he would retain his council seat.
