Racing Roundup : Pine Tree Lane, Tricky Squaw Give Lukas Wins in West, East

Pine Tree Lane led from the start and won the $96,000 Santa Monica Handicap by 1 3/4 lengths over Fairly Old Saturday at Santa Anita.
The 6-year-old Pine Tree Lane, ridden by Gary Stevens, was timed in 1:23 for seven furlongs and added $60,000 to career winnings that already topped $1 million. Owned by William T. Young and trained by Wayne Lukas, Pine Tree Lane returned $7.20, $4.40 and $3.00.
Fairly Old, under Bill Shoemaker, paid $7.80 and $3.80. Le L’Argent, with Eddie Delahoussaye up, returned $3 to show.
At Aqueduct in New York, Tricky Squaw, ridden by Jose Santos, raced to an easy five-length victory in the $87,900 Affectionately Handicap for fillies and mares.
Trained by Wayne Lukas, Tricky Squaw ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:45 1/5 and earned $52,740 for owner Eugene Klein, paying $3.80.
