Argonaut Group’s income jumped to $170.8 million for fiscal 1987 from $22.8 million the year before. The Los Angeles insurance holding company noted that gains on sales of investments for 1987 were $105.3 million, compared to $7.1 million for 1986. Revenue rose 4.4% to $425.6 million.
