Cari Plaggenkuhle scored a goal with 12 minutes remaining and Tara Wright recorded a shutout in her first game as goaltender Thursday to lead El Segundo over host Cerritos Valley Christian, 1-0, in a non-league girls soccer game.
Wright was summoned to duty after regular goaltender Stina Johnson suffered a hand injury. Wright finished with seven saves.
Vicki Thomas assisted on Plaggenkuhle’s goal and fullback Sandee Somers led the defense for El Segundo, which improved to 7-6-1.
