CAMPAIGN ’88 : Gore Makes Hot Offer

Gore, hopelessly out of contention in Iowa and banking on a resurgence in the South on Super Tuesday, March 8, is making a virtue of necessity. Gore’s campaign issued the following invitation in Des Moines this week to reporters:
“The Gore campaign, happily not dependent on any single state, is offering its special Escape Iowa package for the opening days of February, when Iowa thermometers are likely to be at their bitterest lows.” Gore’s early February Southern tour, it said, will include “at least one full day in Florida, of course.”
“Find out what’s happening in the Super Tuesday Belt,” the invitation concluded, “and don’t forget your swimming suit.”
