Loyola Marymount’s basketball team, which set a West Coast Athletic Conference scoring record on the first half of its swing through the Pacific Northwest, will finish its trip tonight at Gonzaga.
The Lions (13-3), riding a school-record 10-game winning streak, beat Portland, 134-106, Thursday night, breaking the WCAC mark for most points in a game, 126, which had been set by one-time conference member Nevada Las Vegas in 1975.
The Lions are 3-0 in the WCAC. Gonzaga, which is 7-0 at home, is 10-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 70-63 victory over Pepperdine.
Hank Gathers, who scored 34 points against Portland, has regained the conference scoring lead with an average of 23.3 points a game. Guard Doug Spradley leads Gonzaga with a 20-point average.
