Western 67, Leuzinger 58--Western jumped to a big lead at Leuzinger, then held on to win.
Western (17-8) held a 20-point lead with a little more than seven minutes to play in the third quarter. But Leuzinger went on a 24-8 run to cut the deficit to 59-55 with three minutes to play.
Keith Pullen led the Leuzinger comeback by making 10 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter.
Western clinched the game by making 8 of 10 free throws in the game’s final two minutes.
Western’s Chris Bowen led all scorers with 26 points but was limited to just 5 in the second half.
Western advances to the second round against Rolling Hills.
Leuzinger, 1-19 last season, finished 18-6.
