NEW YORK, NEW YORK

James feels “cheated and used.” Suzy calls James a “liar, know-nothing, nut, jerk and a snake.” Plotlines from some soap? Not exactly, but a snarly feud between Big Apple gossip scribes James (Revson of Newsday) and Suzy (a.k.a. Aileen Mehle of the Post) is unfolding in their papers--to the delight of inquiring New Yorkers. The problem: Suzy wrote about a recent Metropolitan Museum of Art costume gala--one she didn’t attend. Whoops! James, who was there, dutifully informed his readers that out of 32 guests she named, only 12 actually showed up. Revson (a Revlon Revson) pronounced himself wounded , since he’d always been a Suzy believer. Suzy breezily admitted missing the soiree (thrown by New York Times Publisher Arthur (Punch) Sulzberger) in Wednesday’s column, but didn’t apologize : “I bow in accuracy and meticulousness and decency to no one.” Then she let James have it: “I would like to go on record as telling the world that any place Rat Revson is, I will not be. Do not invite me anywhere if you invite him. Just call it a boycott--or even a Suzycott.”
