Intel Corp. reported a 61% increase in revenue to $636 million for its first quarter ended March 28, compared to $395 million for the year-ago period. The Santa Clara-based manufacturer of semiconductors attributed its performance to the strong demand for microprocessors, microcontrollers, peripheral components and personal computer platforms. Sales were particularly strong in the office automation and industrial sectors, the company said.
