Local News in Brief : Council Selects New Mayor
- Share via
The Palos Verdes Estates City Council on Monday selected Councilman James Kinney to be mayor and Councilwoman Ruth Gralow as mayor pro tem. Outgoing Mayor Edward Ritscher said his colleagues gave no consideration to delaying the selection even though an election Tuesday would place two new people on the council.
The council has an established rotational system for mayor and council members, and it was Kinney’s and Gralow’s turn for the ceremonial jobs. A council member must serve for two years before he or she can become mayor.
Both have been mayor before. They take their new posts Tuesday.
