Pan Am flight attendants overwhelmingly rejected a contract that would have forced them to take substantial wage cuts and boost productivity, company officials announced in New York. Members of the Independent Union of Flight Attendants voted, 2,211 to 630, against the proposed 38-month pact, which company officials said would have brought urgently needed savings to the financially strapped airline. The vote means that flight attendants will continue to work under their current contract, which expires Sept. 1, 1988. Officials did not disclose details of the contract.
