A 15% salary increase over two years has been approved for the 2,432 full- and part-time faculty in the San Diego Community College District.
The board of trustees last week approved an 8% raise retroactive to July 1, 1987, with an additional 7% beginning July 1 of this year. Salaries will range from $23,273 to $50,022 for a professor with a 10-month contract.
The district employs 461 contract and 1,971 part-time faculty. The salary package is the second-highest pay increase among community college districts in the state this year.
The agreement also establishes a committee of four faculty members and four administrators to make recommendations to the trustees on faculty hiring and promotions.
