A Laguna Hills woman injured in a collision with a California Highway Patrol car remained in critical condition at Western Medical Center on Sunday.
The woman, Ruth C. Black, 69, was driving north on Summerwood Way at El Toro Road on Saturday about 1 p.m. when her car was struck by a CHP vehicle driven by Officer Gene O’Neal, who was chasing a speeder, authorities said.
Marina Garcia, a 7-year-old El Toro girl riding in Black’s car, was “doing fine” at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo on Sunday.
O’Neal was treated and released Saturday. A passenger in his car, Craig P. Dolan, 25, of Mission Viejo, was released from Mission Hospital on Sunday. A CHP spokesman said Dolan is not an officer, but he was unsure why Dolan was in the car.
