Obituaries : Broadway Playwright Paul Osborn; Won Tony Award Late in His Career

Playwright Paul Osborn, who won a Tony award late in his life for a 1980 revival of his 1939 “Morning’s at Seven,” died Thursday at a New York City hospital. Osborn, also well known for “The World of Suzie Wong,” was 86.
A graduate of the University of Michigan who studied writing at Yale, Osborn wrote dozens of Broadway plays and several adaptations of novels. Among them were “Tomorrow’s Monday,” “On Borrowed Time,” “A Bell for Adano,” “Oliver Oliver” and “Point of No Return.” “On Borrowed Time” and “Suzie Wong” were also made into films.
After winning the Tony, several of his earlier plays were revived on Broadway and two years ago he was the most produced playwright in New York.
