The crash of a private plane has killed two business partners who had gone to Mexico to set up a factory to manufacture items for a furniture company, relatives said. State Department officials notified families of the deaths of Jan Sher, 43, of Rancho Mirage, and Len Winegar, 63, of Indian Wells, whose Beechcraft plane crashed Friday in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. Details of the accident were not known. Sher’s father, Samuel Cowan of Reno, Nev., and Palm Desert, said investigators planned to go to Mexico. Sher and Winegar were partners in Doveland Development in Palm Desert, and Sher also owned El Tecolote, a store specializing in Southwest decorator items, and Crest West, a wholesale Southwest furniture business.
