Ernie Carr, former UCLA assistant and head coach at Compton Dominguez High, where he still teaches and serves as athletic director, was named temporary men’s basketball coach at Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo.
Carr will fill in for Bill Brummel, who is taking a year’s sabbatical leave to work as a volunteer assistant under Bob Knight at Indiana University.
Carr, 39, was a part-time assistant under Walt Hazzard at UCLA last season.
