Australia will fill the eighth and final spot in the baseball competition at the Seoul Olympics, the International Baseball Assn. announced in Indianapolis.
Cuba, which asked for and received a weeklong delay in having the baseball berths filled for the Summer Games, notified the IBA that it will not participate in the Olympics. Cuba is the defending world champion.
The eight-nation Olympic baseball tournament will include the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico and Australia.
