Kuramoto Finishes Off Victory With an Eagle

NISHINOMIYA, Japan — Masahiro Kuramoto carded an eagle on the final hole on his way to a 69 and a four-shot victory Sunday in the $560,000 Yomiuri Sapporo Open golf tournament.
The victory, worth $100,800, was Kuramoto’s second win in three weeks.
Kuramoto started one shot behind Australian Ian Baker-Finch and caught up after 14 holes at 8-under-par. On the 431-yard, par-4 15th hole, he rolled in a 5-foot birdie putt. Baker-Finch drove into the rough missed a 17-foot putt to save par.
Kuramoto reached the 18th green in two and sank a 20-foot eagle putt on the 587-yard, par-5 18th hole. He completed the four trips over the 7,023-yard, par-72 Osaka Yomiuri Country Club course in 277, 11-under par.
Baker-Finch ended the round with a 74 for 281 and shared second place with Yoshikazu Yokoshima and Tsukasa Watanabe. Yokoshima shot a 70 and Watanabe a 73.
Second-place finishers each received $40,320.
Graham Marsh of Australia shot a 69 for 282 and was tied for fifth place with Seiichi Kanai and Nobuo Serizawa.
