The KCSN-FM Barn Dance is moving to the Palomino, where it will happen every Tuesday (and be broadcast from 9 p.m. to midnight over KCSN). To kick off the new venue, host Ronnie Mack has lined up an all-star stable of talent, including George Highfill, Lucinda Williams, Big Jay McNeely and the Lonesome Strangers. Admission is free. . . . Those adventuresome rock nights at the John Anson Ford Theatre continue Sept. 17 with the newly re-organized Red Hot Chili Peppers, which now features a new guitarist (Blackbird McKnight) and a new drummer (D.H. Peligro). On Sept. 27, the same venue will host a triple-bill of Pere Ubu, Wire and John Cale. . . . Local rock band 6 O’Clock News is hyping its upcoming “Summer Romance” show (Monday night at the Club Lingerie) by giving away safe-sex kits (complete with condoms) to everyone at the door--while the supply lasts. . . . And if you’re a fan of zydeco music, free up Sept. 9 on your pop calendar. The Music Machine hosts a Louisiana Cajun Zydeco Review, featuring Rockin’ Sydney, Al Rapone & the Zydeco Express and Allen Fontenot & the Country Cajuns. Meanwhile, ‘cross town at the Club Lingerie, you can see zydeco crown prince Clifton Chenier Jr., who’s on a double bill with Rotondi, the world’s only Polkadelic band.
