South El Monte : Rent Agreement Reached
A tentative agreement has been reached between tenants of a South El Monte mobile home park and its owner, possibly eliminating a tenant demand for citywide rent control.
On March 1, John Owen, owner of El Monte Mobile Air Park announced a $35-a-month rent increase. The residents paid the new amount for the first month, but a City Council-imposed moratorium returned rents to their former level, pending the possibility of a mobile home rent-control ordinance.
The tentative agreement was reached last week in a meeting between council members and representatives of the tenants and owner.
