A man with a rifle shouted gang slogans, then shot and killed a man sitting on the steps of a Compton apartment building, authorities said Wednesday.
Roger McGee, 21, was alone on the front steps of a friend’s building at 4006 E. Alondra Blvd. when a man with a rifle walked up, shouted the gang slogans and fired repeatedly, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Roger Hom said.
Witnesses said someone on the second floor shot at the gunman, who returned fire and ran off, Hom said. The person on the second floor left before deputies arrived, he said, and there were no arrests.
McGee died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
