Learning How to Just Say No

The Just Say No Foundation, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Walnut Creek, Calif., has been making a nationwide push this week to spread its anti-drug message to children ages 7 to 14.
Carol Edmonston, president of the foundation’s Orange County organizing committee, brought along children from Laguna Road School in Fullerton on Friday to talk to fourth- and fifth-grade students from the La Mirada-Norwalk school district about signing their own pledge cards to “just say no” to drugs.
The Just Say No Foundation, whose honorary chairwoman is First Lady Nancy Reagan, designated this week as national pledge week.
The rally Friday at the La Mirada Civic Theater was similar to other events held throughout Southern California to educate children to the dangers of drug use.
Edmonston said there are about 100 Just Say No chapters for children in Orange County.
