A three-alarm fire Friday at 6055 La Jolla Blvd. destroyed a third-floor condominium and sent an occupant and a firefighter to Scripps Memorial Hospital, fire officials said.
Fifty firefighters fought the blaze from 2 to 5 p.m., San Diego Fire Department spokesman Larry Stewart said.
A firefighter who burned both hands and one of the three occupants of the condominium complex, who suffered smoke inhalation, were taken to the hospital, he said.
An unrelated fire damaged a mortuary at 5050 Federal Blvd. in San Diego, Stewart said. It began at 1 p.m. and burned one body before 20 firefighters extinguished the blaze 15 minutes later, he said.
The causes of both fires are under investigation and no damage estimates were available, he said.
