Local News in Brief : Harbor to Replace Tour Boat
- Share via
The venerable tour boat Angelena, which has ferried countless dignitaries and visitors around the Los Angeles Harbor over the last 30 years, will be replaced with a 65-foot vessel named His Grace.
The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners voted this week to pay $418,000 for the new boat. With a large galley and two salons, His Grace is considerably larger and more comfortable than the 42-foot Angelena. Built in 1973 for commercial use, His Grace is made of fiberglass.
The commissioners voted in February to retire the Angelena because the wooden-hulled tour boat has a severe case of dry rot and needs a $50,000 overhaul. Once the new vessel has arrived, the Angelena will be sold.
