Cal State Northridge, ranked ninth in Division II, defeated Sonoma State, 31-6, Saturday at Rohnert Park, Calif.
Northridge (3-0) has outscored its opponents, 96-6, and has yet to give up a touchdown.
Northridge’s Rob Huffman completed only 1 of 5 passes in the first half but finished 8 of 14 for 137 yards, including touchdowns of 16 yards to Lance Harper and 43 to tight end Richard Ane.
UC Santa Barbara 17, Chico St. 16--Drew Karchmer ran 70 yards to score with 7:08 left to play to lead the Gauchos (1-1) over the Wildcats (0-3) in a nonconference game at Santa Barbara.
Occidental 10, Redlands 0--Cornerback Ben White recovered a Redlands fumble in the end zone early in the fourth quarter as the Tigers opened defense of their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship with a win at Redlands.
Cal Lutheran 16, Cal State Hayward 6--Noel Chesnut ran 27 yards for a touchdown as the Kingsmen (2-0) held off the Pioneers (1-2) in a nonconference game at Hayward.
U. San Diego 17, ClaremontMudd 8--Ken Zampese, son of Ram offensive coordinator Ernie Zampese, scored on a 7-yard run and Mike Hintze caught a 5-yard pass from Doug Piper at the University of San Diego beat Claremond Mudd at San Diego.
Whittier 21, La Verne 7--Gayland Sweet rushed for 111 yards and scored 2 touchdowns to lead the Poets over La Verne in an SCIAC game at Whittier.
