Sweden’s Kent Carlsson won the 36th annual Count of Godo tennis tournament at Barcelona, Spain, Saturday, defeating Austria’s Thomas Muster, 6-3, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Carlsson, the tournament’s second-seeded player, relied on his technical superiority and consistent baseline play to defeat the fifth-seeded Muster before a crowd of 5,000 at the Royal Tennis Club of Barcelona.
The Swede, who won the same championship in 1986, earned $63,750 with the victory.
