It’s quite possible that “It’s Possible,” now being seen in New York’s Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, is the first of its kind in this country. After all, it’s an exhibition of 90 works by 24 artists--12 of whom are Israelis and 12 Palestinians. Both groups say they want to show their support for an Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative. “This exhibition is not about art but about people,” says Kamal Boullata, painter and writer and a co-curator of the exhibition. Boullata says that a model peace treaty signed earlier this year by a group of Israeli and Palestinian artists and writers reflects a readiness for peace, “and the exhibition is the collective statement that affirms it.” After the Gotham showing, the group plans to take it to Washington, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco and Seattle.
