Harold Rossfields Smith, a former boxing promoter, was paroled from the Boron Federal Prison Camp after serving a little more than half of a 10-year sentence for his conviction in the embezzlement of $21 million from Wells Fargo Bank in 1981.
Smith, 45, was convicted of 29 counts of fraud, embezzlement, conspiracy and interstate transport of stolen securities in a scheme the U.S. Attorney’s Office called the largest bank embezzlement in history.
