Cal State Fullerton’s basketball team, under acting coach John Sneed, makes its first public appearance of the season in an intrasquad scrimmage at 7:30 tonight in Titan Gym.
Sneed replaced George McQuarn, who resigned suddenly Thursday citing “personal reasons.”
Fullerton, which will have only 11 players available, is led by community-college transfer Cedric Ceballos, a 6-foot 7-inch junior forward, and Derek Jones, a 6-7 senior who is returning after recovering from injuries suffered in a drive-by shooting last year.
Fullerton, 12-17 last year, opens the season Dec. 1 against Utah.
The Fullerton women’s team will hold an intrasquad scrimmage at 6 p.m.
The women are led by senior point guard Cheryl Jones and Gena Miller, a 6-3 sophomore center who was the freshman of the year last season in the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn., now the Big West Conference.
The women’s team, 18-11 last year, opens its season Nov. 26 in the Titan Converse tournament.
