San Francisco’s historic Sheraton Palace Hotel will close in January, 1989, for up to 18 months during a top-to-bottom renovation project, hotel officials announced. The $60-million renovation will include the restoration of all the hotel’s decorative elements and areas of historic importance including the Garden Court, which was granted landmark status in 1969, and the building’s facade.
