Reactions to Republicans Posting Guards at the Polls

At our regular Meeting for Business on Sunday, Nov. 13, 1988, following Sunday morning worship, members of the Orange County Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) approved the following minute:
Orange County Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) is deeply offended and alarmed by the posting of uniformed guards at polling places, which occurred in the 72nd Assembly District in Santa Ana on Election Day. This attempt to intimidate voters has no place in the electoral process in a democratic country and is a threat to the liberties we all hold dear.
