Conscience Awards Presented: The Council of Economic Priorities, a New York-based nonprofit research group, presented its Corporate Conscience Awards to Federal Express Corp., Digital Equipment Corp., Dayton Hudson Corp., Eastman Kodak Co., and Applied Energy Services Corp. for achievements in social responsibility. The Council gave “dishonorable mentions” to Du Pont Co. and John Morrell & Co. for behavior it said was highly irresponsible.
