BELFAST, Northern Ireland — IRA gunmen shot and killed three men at a Northern Ireland parking garage today, police said.
The Irish Republican Army said it attacked the garage in the County Tyrone village of Coagh because it is a local stronghold for the Ulster Volunteer Force, an outlawed Protestant paramilitary group. The Rev. William McCrea, the local unionist member of Parliament, said, “The gunmen opened fire from a passing car. After doing their job, they cheered as they drove away.”
