Colorado State Tops Field in Tournament

SALT LAKE CITY — Regular-season champion Colorado State is seeded first in the Western Athletic Conference basketball tournament beginning tonight at Huntsman Center on the University of Utah campus.
Colorado State will play the winner of tonight’s preliminary-round game between San Diego State and Utah in the last quarterfinal game Thursday night.
The winner of the tournament will receive the conference’s automatic berth in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. tournament.

No. 8 Utah (15-16, 6-10) vs. No. 9 San Diego State (12-16, 4-12), 6:05 p.m.
Thursday
No. 3 New Mexico (19-9, 11-5) vs. No. 6 Air Force (14-13, 6-10), 11:05 a.m.
No. 2 Texas El Paso (22-6, 11-5) vs. No. 7 Wyoming (14-16, 6-10), 1:35 p.m.
No. 4 Hawaii (16-11, 9-7) vs. No. 5 Brigham Young (14-14, 7-9), 6:05 p.m.
No. 1 Colorado State (20-8, 12-4) vs. Utah-San Diego State winner, 8:35 p.m.
Friday
Semifinals, 6:05 and 8:35 p.m.
Saturday
Championship, 7:05 p.m.
