LEIPZIG, East Germany — the government refused to distribute a Soviet magazine last month because it published an interview with Poland’s Solidarity leader Lech Walesa, Soviet sources said Sunday.
They said the East German post office did not deliver an issue of the German-language weekly magazine Neue Zeit to subscribers. The Russian-language edition of the magazine was delivered.
East Berlin has always viewed Solidarity with disquiet, and its press coverage of the banned union’s current talks with the Polish government has been kept to a minimum.
