P.M. BRIEFING : UPS Orders 10 Boeing Freighters

SEATTLE — United Parcel Service has ordered 10 more Boeing 757-200PF jet freighters at a cost of about $500 million, the jetliner maker said today.
In 1985, UPS ordered 20 757-200PFs--for “package freighters”--and took options on another 15. Today’s order converts 10 of those options into firm sales.
Fifteen planes from the original order have been delivered, with the first going into service in September, 1987. The newly ordered planes will be delivered from August, 1991, through 1992, Boeing said.
The 757-200PF is a windowless, twin-engine jet designed to accommodate 15 cargo containers or pallets on its main deck.
