GREENVILLE, Tex. — A Delta Air Lines Boeing 727 carrying 93 people made an emergency landing at a municipal airport east of Dallas today after a faulty warning light indicated an engine fire, the airline said. No one was injured.
Flight 423, en route from Atlanta to San Diego, landed at Majors Field in Greenville, about 40 miles northeast of Dallas, shortly after 9 a.m. “There was no fire and the crew and the passengers were all offloaded by the aircraft chutes,” said Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Gerrie Cook. The 86 passengers and crew of seven were taken by bus to Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport, where they made connections to the West Coast.
