LONDON — The dollar was steady in very quiet trading in Europe today, with most markets closed for the long Easter holiday weekend.
Gold and silver bullion markets in London, Zurich and Hong Kong were closed.
Commodities markets were closed worldwide.
Market players said that with most European financial centers closed for Good Friday, trading fizzled out with the winding down of the Tokyo day. The European markets reopen on Tuesday.
In Tokyo, where trading ends before Europe’s business day begins, the dollar rose 0.39 yen to a closing 131.27 yen. Later in Europe it was quoted at 131.30 yen.
